Les Bubka - Head Coach
My aim is to promote Karate as a tool for the improvement of both physical and mental health. I am a dedicated practitioner of the art of the empty hand and have been for over 25 years.
I provide inclusive martial arts tuition and work with a variety of clients and organisations. My maxim is:
"Strong and caring people are the pillars of society, and Karate helps to cultivate them."
Gary - Club Instructor
Gary has been a student of Les Bubka for many years, beginning his training with him in January 2016 after a decade-long break from martial arts. His journey started in 1997 with Wado-Kai Karate, which he practiced for about a year before feeling the need to explore other styles.
In late 1998, he discovered both Ju-Jitsu and Judo, ultimately focusing on Ju-Jitsu, which he trained in for nine years. He stepped away after a near-miss accident on the mat, during a time when his wife was pregnant with their second child. He returned to martial arts in 2016 under Les' guidance and continues his training to this day.
Nick - Club Instructor
Hailing from Maine (USA), Nick began his training in Goju-Ryu (Shobukan) at age 5. At age 16, he shifted to Shorin-Ryu (Matsumura Seito Orthodox Karate and Kobudo) and was awarded the rank of Shodan in 2001. Life as a touring musician put training on pause and in 2014, he relocated to Guildford (UK). Nick joined Guildford All Round Karate in 2023 and was awarded his Shodan in Shin Ai Do in 2025.
Anna - Club Instructor
Anna began training in Judo at the age of four. At ten, she transitioned to Aikido, and a year later started Seiki Juku Karate, in which she has since achieved the rank of Nidan.
Over the years, she has also explored other martial arts, including Hung Kuen and Chang Quan styles of Kung Fu, though she has always been drawn back to Karate. She began training in Shin Ai Do Karate in 2008 and currently serves as the club’s safeguarding lead.
